    Hello everyone,

I have a Vu+ Uno4K SE and I recently installed the latest Black hole image.
Wanting to transfer a file in FTP, DCC or Filezilla, the image asks me to user and the password.
On my previous image Openpli, I never had this problem and I did not touch anything.
    Someone can help me ?
    Thank you.

There isn't usually a password, unless you've set one.
For Filezilla you have Host, which is your receivers assigned IP address, and Username, which is root, then all you do is hit quick connect.
For DCC, Dreambox Control Centre, you don't even need that, you just can use the search option, to locate all devices, on your network, and their IP Addresses.

Have you added any security, or a new router, to your network, or PC, including any updates?

Where do you ever had "root" as a password for clean images???????? Never ever.
There is NO password if the image is clean and, obviously, if it's not a backup.

In BH images downloaded from this Board, there is no password for root account.
If you have your box SSH/Telnet port opened to world (Internet) probably you were hacked and someone set up a password.
The only thing you can do is to reflash your box and set up yourself a password and, also, don't open your box to the World.

ALWAYS uses password to transfer files with the help of ftp. You'll never get ftp access without password. NEVER.

    There are 2 passwords exist:
    1. login: root, password: root - for ftp.
    2. login: root, password: dreambox - for http(s) access, dcc, DreadmboxEdit.

There´s no any password for BlackHole or Open BlackHole images:

    login: root
password: ( leave this field blank ) and just press enter lo login.

    best regards

All mighty God... Just load DCC and look. Password is dreambox. I've never changed it. The same for DreamboxEdit.

Though, you have setted the passord to "dreambox", or you are using a backed up image ;)

    best regards

No, I've never used backed up image. Only new, always. And never setted the password :)

Well, I've performed an experiment. I've created 3 ftp connections in Total Commander:
    1. login "root", password "root" - works and doesn't ask for password.
    2. login "root", password "dreambox" - works and doesn't ask for password.
    3. login "root", password left this field blank - works, but always ask for password. I need to press enter lo login every time.
So, there are 3 variants of connection by ftp.

    Thanks.

    Not exactly,

    In my Total Commander.

If you do not have a FTP password in Total Commander you can connect without
passwords. And Total Commander does not ask anything.
    The password has no function.

If you have a password you must use the password.
if you do not type your password automatically or manually,
then Total Commander asks for your password.

There is no dreambox password in the standard BH image
ie the clean image has no password
    only user : root

There is no need in it. It's not a problem to set password "root" or "dreambox" once and use it.

This idea does not seem good,
because the dreambox, root e.t.c password is poorly protected
    Better use your own password.

I use TC (ex Windows Commander) for a long time (~20 years). And always TC asks for password if it doesn't set.

If it is opened for world, of course, the password should be changed. But if I use it only in local network, it doesn't matter.

    Yes,
you can put anything like a password
but that does not mean that the box has a password.
This is a fake password for some FTP programs and for TC.
Once again, BH image installed cleanly has no password.
You have to make it yourself.

For those who do not know in telnet
    command: passwd
    Write a password.

I know some who thought the same
    and were hacked.
    So always use your password.
